When you make the switch from an on-grid way of life with many conveniences, to an off-grid rural life, especially in a place like Alaska, it has benefits and disadvantages like anything else does. You are basically exchanging one set of pros and cons for another, so knowing what they are in a bit of detail is something I find useful. However if you have already been living off the grid, alot of this information may not be new to you.
